5 things about me.
3 words to describe me?
Funny. Creative. Independent.
Why do I like theatre?
I don't know, I just fell in love with it at school and I was gutted when I couldn't do it at GCSE, however joining a youth theatre re-ignited that theatre spark I was longing. I then fell in love with it again and loved being a part of a show, acting in front of friends and family, everyone watching me. I've become a new man thanks to theatre, I wouldn't be this confident person you see today, I'd still be the little shy guy I was in school.
Why do I want to be a teacher?
You know what, I don't even know, I guess I do believe kids are the future and that being around them can change who you are. There's nothing better than listening to a kid tell a joke or making kids laugh. You can't get that in an everyday office job, there's no creativity in an office job either, being a drama teacher you're a powerhouse. You get to act, direct and more importantly show off to the kids. They see you as this amazing teacher who knows drama games and can act amazingly. Nothing wrong with being smug in your job.
Why don't I want to be an actor?
Well if the opportunity came about I wouldn't reject it, however acting is such a hard business to get into so I'd rather have a steady job instead of living of nothing, waiting for something to happen. I'd love to be on the West End acting in a stage show that tours all over the world but it's difficult to do that as directors are looking for a specific person. I'd love to do it but I'm being realistic, not an optimistic..
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself teaching at a school in Yorkshire, having a house, a car and a girlfriend. The last one is a strong thing to think about but you never know it might happen. However I might not be a teacher, I might write a play and it tours all over the UK. I might come back to Liverpool and do something theatre related. I might teach at college. I might live abroad. To be honest I don't know where I'm going to be but I know I'd like to be a teacher so hopefully I'll have that career path ticked off my bucket list.
